Makeshift Forklift

A couple of months ago The Lady asked me to move the kid's playhouse to a different part of the yard.  Not having access to a fork lift, I fig'red that I could mount a 2" hitch ball on the Yaris' tow bar and make a "fork truck" with my flatbed trailer.  It worked beautifully!

Interestingly, the playhouse is built from the last 8' of the 28' travel trailer I cannibalized to make the flatbed.

Have you ever seen a tumblebug baler for hay? For some reason the tilt here reminded me of it -- which I don't think is a good sign. :)

(I couldn't find a video of the tumblebug, which is a pity, as they are really neat, purely mechanical, way of moving large hay bales. And fun to watch.)

Ah! one drove down my street just the other day - now I know it's name!

Wow! A Yaris as a forklift...only a mad scientist or a genius could conceive this. Perhaps a little of both? Fantastic!

Sort of reminds me of http://tinyhouseblog.com/. ingenious impromptu forklift, btw. I've been poking around the site, and you do simply incredible work. Its my dream to have a workshop. and time. and talent.

Oh hey! Thanks for that link!
Make the time, the others will follow in due course.

Jake,

Some months ill find that i have lots of altoids tins laying around.

Any suggestions on something to do with all of them? Currently they house screws/nails.

Jake.

My question is: How did you get it UP there?

I just jacked up one side, backed the trailer under it, then used the come-along to lift it on.  Q.E.D.
