Back from a morning of shopping in Seattle. Got Hungarian Paprika, Madras Curry, Bacon Band-aids and a pair of vintage drafting sets at the Seattle Antique Market. This town is really growing on me!

Drafting
numbo42 — Thu, 11/06/2008 - 21:42Looks just like the tools my dad used in the '50's and '60's.
I still use them! I find
Jake von Slatt — Fri, 11/07/2008 - 08:38I still use them! I find that thinking on paper is much more of a natural thing for me. The computer is great when you know you're going to want to make iterations of something or if it will be use as a module in other things but for the most creative parts of a project I need paper.
Saw an interview with you.
devonboling — Thu, 11/06/2008 - 11:16I thank you so much for your understanding of your craft.
I saw an interview where you were explaining how to make something "steampunk".
you stated that "if brass is the proper material you don't cover it in black paint, you polish it up!" or something very close to that. I was curious if you might be aware of other metals commonly used in this time period. For a long time I have disliked the color of brass and gold, admittedly steampunk is making me rethink that opinion. I would be very curious to know what other alternatives would be appropriate. perhaps Aluminum? but then again maybe not. I know silver would be, but that's a bit high end for any project. steel and iron I'm guessing. but any insight you may have would be appreciated. I can be reached at devonboling at gmail dot com.
Paprika
tanacsdavid — Thu, 11/06/2008 - 08:55Hello Jake!
Did You try Erős Pista?
If You don't know it, it's a paprika-jam (jelly? don't know, which fits better) made of hot red paprika. It's tasty, and blows Your head off.

TheGeek — Thu, 11/06/2008 - 01:54Excuse me while I wipe the drool off my chin. And, I'm not talking about the food. Those are some nice drafting sets

Bacon Bandaids?
Shiyiya — Tue, 11/04/2008 - 18:58What on earth are bacon bandaids? Are they bandaids that look like bacon? Bacon that looks like bacon? Candy that looks like bacon that looks like bandaids? Are they edible or are they for putting on cuts?
They sound like a thoroughly bizarre product, whatever they are!
