The Music of Mr. and Mrs. Hazelwood
Jake von Slatt — Tue, 09/02/2008 - 09:52

I'm not sure how to categorize these two - also, I'm not a music critic so I just don't have the language. Think Squirrel Nut Zippers with some Goth influence. It's neat stuff, old timey but with a nice edge.
It is my understanding that they have been bitten hard by the Steampunk bug and that an upcoming release in aught-nine will contain a bit of mad science!

Unlistenable
RareVictorian — Tue, 09/02/2008 - 15:40I have an open mind and listen to everything from the Misfits, to Slayer, to Eva Cassidy, the Shins, Freddie King, Jean Michel Jarre to The Duke Spirit.... and 1,018 other very diverse artists according to the iPod.
From the unbearable vibratos ("The Good Life" @ 01:34, "Indiana" 01:39- very cowardly lion-like), to the out-of-tune tuba periodically through the duration of "Indiana", to the flat duet accompaniment by Mr. Hazelwood in Rough River, I can't listen to it.
I wish them luck however, and I'm sure there will be those who do like it.
I like them
Jake von Slatt — Tue, 09/02/2008 - 16:50There are indeed people that like them very much and you can count me among their number. Since I particularly like Indiana for it's atmosphere we must have very different tastes!
